Balmain Hospital Symposium 2016

You are warmly invited to attend the inaugural Balmain Hospital Symposium at the Centre for Education and Workforce Development, Rozelle.

Balmain Hospital is a community based hospital which has been caring for people since 1885 and is dedicated to Aged Care, Rehabilitation and General Practice. The symposium will showcase innovative research and quality improvement activities underway at Balmain Hospital.

You will enjoy updates on aged care and rehabilitation from a range of health professionals, including Dementia & Delirium CNC Annie Hepworth, who will discuss the management of confused patients as part of the Confused Hospitalised Older Person Study (CHOPS). Physiotherapist Josh Bishop will outline the success of the pulmonary rehabilitation program and you will hear about the latest in aphasia pathways for stroke patients from Speech Pathologists Pip Taylor and Kristen David, as well as safety huddles and falls prevention, the role of environmental services in supporting best practice care, and much more.

The symposium aims to attract guests from within Sydney Local Health District, including the SLHD Executive, facility executives, community health representatives, ACC&R employees, patient flow representatives, rehabilitation specialists, geriatricians, and Nursing Unit Managers. Local General Practitioners and care managers from residential aged care facilities will be encouraged to attend.

The symposium will be held on Monday 7 November 2016 from 8am - 1pm. It will be held in the auditorium at SLHD’s Centre for Education and Workforce Development (CEWD) in Rozelle. Morning tea and a light lunch will be provided.

FAQs

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

Shuttle buses with the capacity to transport 20 passengers will be leaving from Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPAH) and Balmain Hospital between 7:30 - 7:45am. From RPAH, the bus will depart from the side street between KGV and Lifehouse. From Balmain Hospital, the bus will depart from the bus stand directly across from the hospital. Buses will return to both sites following the lunch, departing CEWD at 1pm.

Limited unmetered parking is available in the surrounding streets of Rozelle.

The 440 and 445 bus services both travel along Balmain Rd and directly pass CEWD, with a bus stop located just outside the entrance.
